Hello, my name is , I really don't know who to look for with this issue, my daughter's issue actually and mine too in a way as well and it has to be dealt with in some matter. She's a single mother taking care of two young children, she had gotten hired on with goodwill and learned her job real well and loved her employment with them and was doing really good .She was a motivated and hard worker moving up that goal ladder so to speak and was wanting to make a career with the Goodwill Industries, then there had came a day April 26th to be exact, where there was a costumer who had came up to her register to purchase a bike and wanted to pay for it with a gift card, well the gift card didn't have any money on it so a supervisor had came over to my daughter's register to clear it and my daughter went back to working and then when the next costumer was making her purchase my daughter had found that the charge from the previous customer was added onto this woman's and that it was not voided the way it should have been, at this time the supervisor had to come over to try to void out this mistake, may I remind you her mistake in the first place which was not done right, the customer was in some kind of hurry saying she had an family emergency and rushed out of the store, it took a few seconds but then it dawned on both my daughter and the supervisor that the woman had rushed out the store with the item's with out paying for the them, that was when my daughter, not knowing what else to do, ran out after her down the block, telling the woman she needed to either pay for the item's or return them to the store, the woman then got a twenty dollar bill out and handed it to her and continued to rush off. well then my daughter had gone back to the store and had given the money to the supervisor and thought everything was ok from that point on, well the very next day she was called into work and there was an investigator wanting to talk with her, she had been asked about the incident over a few times and she had tried to explain, the way this man was going about asking her these question's were of course making her nervous, so he said to her well you've given me three different answer's, then this man had started telling her that he didn't believe her story and that she was making up some kind of story because she was like trying to cover up something, like as if she had had this woman come into to store and like act as if she was buying these item's and my daughter was letting her get this stuff for her or something to that effect and she supposedly had ran to the atm or some kind of stupid thing like that and got her own money out to cover up for herself, I mean this is a crazy cockie eyed story he was telling her about what really had happened and they had fired her. Come on Now! Now here it is that she now doe's not have a job, can't pay her bill's and barely making the rent, her unemployment check isn't enough to support her and her children and did this supervisor that came to help clear these problems get fired? The answer to that is No! You know that by her being fired from a job, this is not going to look good on her getting another job as well, these other employee's at this Goodwill store are putting a "Deformation Of Character" reputation on her. What can be done about this? Isn't there a way she can fight these action's? She was wrongfully terminated and as far as these other people involved something's got to be done about them! I just can't believe this and can't and will not just let this go! So please help me out here and lead me to someone who can and will do something about this situation. Isn't the Goodwill organization supposed to be about helping people reach for better goal's and better their lives to have a real future? Well then I'd like to be shown that that is what they say it is. And i would also like to mention that as for me myself, I was my daughter's child care provider, yes I watched her children so she can go to work and yes I got paid for it too, so because of this incident I had lost my job as well and yes I am mad about it. I guess I have said enough about this, I sincerely hope you will respond back to me on this issue, thank you for taking the time to read this letter, 'statement' Sincerely . from Bakersfield, CA *** Bakersfield, CA My E-mail address if different from what's on this address is ####.com Thank You... We don't communicate off the message board, and do not name names here (even your own). In future posts, please break up text into paragraphs by hitting "enter" twice every so often; big blocks are harder to follow online. Way too much extraneous commentary there though. :) This isn't wrongful termination in a legal sense. It's unfair, but not unlawful. Someone can be fired for no reason at all, even a mistaken reason. "... these other employee's at this Goodwill store are putting a "Deformation Of Character" reputation on her." I'm sorry, but you aren't really explaining this very well. If someone's saying that she was fired for being suspected of X, that's the truth. They may be wrong, but that doesn't mean it isn't true. It's also unclear how a co-worker here or there talking smack is damaging her. She's free to explain her side of the story to whomever. Your daughter is free to talk with someone in upper/regional management about the incident. |
